“Blue Summer”, Hayden’s first jazz premiere, holds a special place in his collection. Written during a COVID summer, the piece marks the beginning of his enduring love for jazz composition — his favorite genre to write for. Scored for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, and bass, the work blends the spontaneity of jazz with the intimacy of chamber music, evoking both melancholy and renewal.
