"Pandemonium" (2023) – Commissioned by the New York Philharmonic Very Young Composers Showcase
Moved by the painting’s dramatic portrayal of chaos, rebellion, and the fall of order, Hayden reimagines that turmoil through sound — portraying Satan’s uprising against the backdrop of an established institution and society. Beyond its historical reference, Pandemonium mirrors the global unrest and uncertainty of the modern world, using dissonance, shifting textures, and dynamic contrasts to explore the fine line between destruction and renewal.
